Solo Day 8

Jan 10, 2011   //   by Brett Morey   //   Pastor Brett, Solo Blog  //  No Comments

During our devotional reading this morning we entered the book of Leviticus. The book is full of ceremony and sacrifice. Blood and bulls, goats and guilt. It may seem that none of these things apply to us but they do.

Much of the book is about how the human high priest is to present a sacrifice to God in order for the people to be forgiven. In today’s passage, we are reminded of an important truth. Even the human priest is a sinner that needs a sacrifice.

Aaron, the high priest, was a sinner just like everyone else. It was for this reason that he made a sacrifice to cover his own sins before he could make sacrifice for anyone else. He was a picture of Christ but he was not Christ.

Many years after Aaron Jesus came to be our eternal high priest. He was a special high priest in that He was sinless. He did not need forgiveness or a sacrifice because He had no sins. He stood as our great high priest and gave Himself as our sacrifice.

So, today you don’t need to search the earth for a priest or a sacrifice for forgiveness. You need Jesus. Our high priest who covered our sins with his own blood.
