Solo Day 176

Jun 27, 2011   //   by mike   //   Pastor Mike, Solo Blog  //  1 Comment

People and judgment. ” If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, then what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”  ( 1 Peter 3:18). Wow, God’s mercy and grace is immeasurable BUT… not unending! ( Judgment is coming). We have a “plumb line” and His name is Jesus. He is all we are to measure to and we even have a  “T-square” to help us to stand level. His name is the Holy Spirit. Thank you Father God for giving us your Son Jesus to save us and the Holy Spirit to guide us to live our lives in obedience to your Word! (Sort of gives us a true meaning of “walking a straight line in a crooked world”… doesn’t it?)    -  Mike

Solo Day 173

The God of Justice. Every day on the t.v. or in the newspapers, we see injustices done and we ask that God of justice will make things right. We know that God is unhappy when he sees what goes on daily in our country and how do we act when this happens. I think many times, we just roll over and play dead because we don’t want to make it right. I am sure that the victims of the tornado’s in Alabama felt like they were getting injustice, but our church as well as others prayed and decided we would take action to help the people, thru our generous financial support and the clothing we shared. When we see that after many years of injustice such as people, after spending many years in jail, are finally freed because they were innocent, it breaks our hearts, but how can we as people make a difference. We can’t alone. “We have to put God in control and pray for strength for them. My heart breaks for the people in Minot, N.D. as over 12,000 have fled their homes due to the floods. Many years ago, Dixie and I stayed for several days there during a vacation and were touched by their hospitality. I now that they are asking, why me. Let us continue to pray for the injustices that happen to people on a daily basis and let them know, that God will always be at their side. What a powerful message this was for me today. Peggy

Solo Day 169

I have not forgotten, just grasping for … time! Wow, I’m glad I did. Read  (Hosea 11) and seek a verse that speaks to your heart. Everything in our life changes and everything that comes to pass in this world will be no more, gone, never to return … except God! He is here with us, “in our midst”, never changing. So, why do we hang on to the here and now? Let’s “hang” on to Jesus and seek to be obedient to what He wants. Then, what “comes to pass” will be fulfilling.      -Mike

Yes, sometimes I want to continue to worship my own little idols and then just after the fact, and then want God to listen to what I have or have not done in my daily walk. Did I walk the walk  or did as I wanted to. When I was a child, my parents would always remind me that actions speak louder than words. May my words be acceptable unto God. What we can learn from gleaning God’s words in our daily Bible readings. Peggy

I believe this applies to ALL of us ! We need everything God has to offer and we need to give Him ALL to receive it but… because of sin, without Him, we fail to give Him ALL. I guess you can see that ALL is the key. Well, God set the example by giving us His Son. Jesus gave His ALL for us so God’s All is available to us. Wow, that is ultimate grace and mercy ! Seek, ask, give. Seek, ask, give, ( of ourselves), continuously in prayer, in unity with the Holy Spirit, staying in His Word daily, this is what God asks of us. In turn, if we do these things it will help us to give our ALL as we get closer to Him.    Mike

We take for granted our freedom to pray and worship God and never give it a second thought that one day that could come to an end.I know that today’s lesson hit hard for me in my daily prayer life. Do I give it all to Him on a daily basis or just when I feel the urge. I could not make it thru the days without spending time with God in the morning hours when I am fresh and waiting for God’s direction in my life. I might just be the friend who is quietly in the corner praying. I hope that that decision never has to come during my lifetime. Peggy

To read this as if we did not know Jesus… wow, look at the difference ! Stubborn, obstinate people with their minds so fixed on the world that they are blind to anything else except what is in front of them. We, (as Christians), were that way too but the difference is that HE chose us ! (AND, yet while we were His enemies). I can’t fathom that but I have the “want to”  to follow the One who provides “It”. As Christians, this is what we are to share with others. “It” being “The Word” and we know “The Word” as Jesus Christ.    – Mike

How many times during the week do we find ourselves sinking in the mud, unable to get out. Why? We don’t ask God to guild us through the most difficult of circumstances that got us in the pit in the first place. At times, I feel like sinking sand and know that all I need to do is to Call Upon Our Lord for strength and guidance. He never lets us sink. Peggy

God’s people and obedience. We do and we don’t do… we do and we don’t do. Wow, what patience and what love ! You know, God is just waiting for us to ask Him what our particular, individual mission is in life. I mean, He gives us all at least one spiritual gift and we need to seek, through prayer, what that gift is. Calling. He wants us to call upon Him so we can be  consistent in obedience to His “Calling”. God promises to answer us when we call upon Him. Knowing what our Gift(s) are, and in unity with the Holy Spirit, we will be better prepared for His answer. – Mike
