Pastoral Thoughts for May

There are seasons of the soul that are unexplainable but useful.  As I write to you, I am waiting on confirmation that Janan and Dawn will be able to come home.  This season of our lives could never have been prepared for.  I remember Dawn and I talking through the ‘what ifs’.  God has done a great work in Janan and we are praying for great days of bringing God glory for the future.

All that said, You and I (all of us) have times of struggle and situations that hurt.  How do we cope with them?  What if they end in tragedy?  What then?  Starting May 15th we will begin a series in I Peter entitled “Our Living Hope”.  We will spend about 5-6 weeks finding encouragement from Peter on how to cope when we feel persecuted.  This series will give us a great foundation of truth to stand on whether we are suffering natural circumstances of life or spiritual persecution from the world.

May we be mindful or our God holding us as we are reminded to worship and be an example of Our Living Hope.
